About The Event

 The 12th Annual Kayak Tournament benefiting the Fin Addict Angler Foundation promotes a spirit of friendly competition while participants enjoy the sport of fishing with family and friends making life-long special memories.

TOURNAMENT RULES

Registration: 

Early registration is strongly encouraged. As a bonus, participants pre-registered by September 24, 2023 will receive a limited edition tournament t-shirt (only while supplies last).  It is the participants responsibility to pick up their angler packet containing the tournament shirt. If you decide not to attend the in-person weigh-in, please contact info@finaddictangler.org by 10/2/23 to schedule your angler packet pick up time at the Foundation Office. Note: If you register in-person the day of the tournament, the entry fee must be paid in cash - no other payment methods will be accepted.

Registration Fee: 

The registration fee (per person) is $55 Open Division. Women's Division is $45. Youth 16 years of age and under free. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times in order to participate. 

Check-In: 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

 

Pre-Fish Meeting: 

There will be an informal Facebook Live Anglers meeting on September 29, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. to go over the tournament rules and guidelines. Fin Addict Fishing Tournaments will be the Facebook host for the Live Anglers meeting.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

In the acceptance of change to the new normal of Safety First, we are adhering to the guidelines of Bexar County. Social distancing is encouraged during our activities. Mask are optional. For the safety of all anglers and our communities we ask that if you are experiencing symptoms of covid please stay home and seek medical attention.

Tournament Times: 

You must check-in at the tournament table to confirm your registration before you begin fishing regardless of your arrival time. Angler's Meeting 7:15 a.m. Anglers with paddle/pedal kayaks, begin fishing at 7:30 a.m. Anglers with motorized kayaks, begin fishing at 8:00 a.m. In order for a fish to be eligible for judging, it must be caught after 7:30 a.m. and submitted by 1:30 p.m. Fish caught before 7:30 a.m. or submitted after 1:30 p.m. will not be eligible for judging. Winners will be announced at the event and on the Fin Addict Fishing Tournament facebook page on the website the week following the tournament.

Tackle & Fishing Equipment: 

Live, dead and artificial bait will be permitted. Each angler will be allowed to have and use two fishing poles at a time. Please use fishing poles or cane poles in this tournament - no nets or traps or any other method may be used in this tournament. You must bring your own fishing gear, bait etc. No downrigging. 

Fishing Location: 

Participants must be fishing in a kayak in the water of Calaveras Lake. For park fees and park rules check www.cpsenergy.com or call (210)635-8359. All participants must wear a personal floatation device.

Fishing Laws: 

This tournament will adhere to all State (TPWD) fishing rules. For TPWD rules, visit TPWD's Calaveras Lake website. Fish must be legal (size, species, etc) in order to be eligible for judging. Children must wear a life jacket while on the water.

Judging: 

Single Heaviest Redfish (minimum length 20 inches)

All legal fish must be brought to the judges table. You must be in line by 1:30 p.m. with your fish to be eligible for tournament judging. All judges' decisions are final. There will be no deduction for dead fish that are turned in. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by the first fish submitted. FAAF Check-it stick will be the official ruler used for measuring.

Side-Pots:

$10 Cash only at registration

$$$ - Heaviest Legal-size single Catfish 12" and over

$$$- Single Legal-size Redfish with the most spots on one side 20" and over

The Weighmaster has final decision.

The Youth Division is not eligible for side-pot entry.

"Open Division" Winners are based on 75 anglers 

1st - $700 ($$ & prize value)

2nd - $400 ($$ & prize value)

3rd - $300 ($$ & prize value)

4th - $200 ($$)

5th - FAAF gift pack

10th - $100 ($$)

  • 1:30 p.m. - Tournament fish must be submitted for judging by 1:30 pm
  • 1:30 p.m. - Tournament ends (fish must be submitted for judging by 1:30 pm)
  • Tournament and raffle winners to be announced
